After some much-needed time away from the microphone, it's so good to be back in the studio! A lot has happened over the several months since season one closed out, and I wanted to take a couple of minutes to share some of those changes.Ā
Foster Care
Perhaps the biggest change for our family was accepting a foster care placement for a 2-year-old girl at the beginning of June. We were able to share our lives with her for nearly five months before recently moving to a more permanent home that is such a great fit for her. Though sadness always follows separation, we are so happy to see her grow into her new family. Despite the unforeseen struggles our experience presented, we feel richly blessed to be used by God in her little lifeāif only for a few months.Ā
Foster care will definitely be an episode all on its own in Season 2. There is just too much to cover in a 2-minute update. In short, Season 2 was supposed to kick off in September...
Marathon
One of my first episodes in Season 1 referenced my disappointment in my first Marathon being canceled due to COVID. Well, I was able to run that very same Marathon in October and it was one of the highlights of my lifeāhonestly.Ā
This is actually where I want to dwell for a few minutes in today's episode.Ā
Growing up in a Christian home, I've heard the Christian life paralleled with running a race hundreds of times. I'm familiar with all of the scripture passages that compare the two. While I never doubted the comparison, I gained so much more perspective over the last six months.Ā
What's Next?
I'm really excited for this season! I've been reading so many excellent books over the last months and I can't wait to talk to some of those authors on the show. I've also been spending a lot of time in my kitchen. We're still working through some ways to bring the kitchen to the podcast.Ā
There is a lot to be excited about. I'm so grateful to you for spending a few minutes with me this week.
Coffee Thoughts
Each week this season, I'm going to send out Coffee Thoughtsāa few words of encouragement or a challenge for wives and mothers who need some love. I hope you'll join us for a minute every Wednesday. To sign up, head over to https://keepingmysanity.com.
